PASSION FOR ANTIQUES

It all started in Italy in the fifties with Mrs Caterina Piacentini Guagnini and her passion for antiques and object d’art. Later she was joined by her daughter Maria Guagnini who shared her same interests. With Paola Pareglio, Maria’s daughter, this passion for antiques, which has become in the meantime a profession, reached it’s third generation. Today, the business is owned and run by Paola Pareglio and her English husband Warren James Ayres. Together Paola and Warren, have gradually changed the look of the shop although without forgetting its rich family history and past knowledge. Paola and Warren say
«“our aim is to “convert” people who have never thought of introducing any piece of antique furniture into their home”».
And with this in mind, Warren and Paola research and then offer, through their delightful gallery, elegant, particular, curious and unusual antique furniture and decorative items, as well as create atmospheric and interesting window displays that have, on occasion, become crowd stoppers.

Paola Pareglio has had an education apparently far removed from her actual profession. In reality, her past as a lawyer, has contributed to form an extremely correct, serious and trustworthy approach and attitude. The pleasure to research, the keenness for studying and searching thoroughly, put together with a liking for every thing which comes from the past, either very remote, or more recent, but if only genuine and interesting.
Warren James Ayres, expert in antiques, and in particular of English Antiques, fell in love with this fascinating art when he was a child. He needs to touch and hold anything that has a trace of history or a story to tell, from a simple decorative object to a more sophisticated antique piece of furniture. With a real talent for the research and discovery of antique furniture and for the exacting method of displaying furniture which is most pleasing to the eye, Warren will show you that one cannot but help open themselves up to the world of antiques.
